How many frames can FlipaClip support ?

Just bought the app for a project RotoScoping 

I am importing a video filmed at 100 frames per second.

Can this app support this ?

Will the flip-clip handle 100 frames, is their any restriction here ?

Hello! Great question. So at the moment the max frame rate supported by FlipaClip is 30 FPS. If you are bringing in a video with 100 FPS FlipaClip will only take 30 frames from those 100 frames. The video import feature will convert the video frame rate into the project's current frame rate setting. So that means there will be some frames dropped.

In terms fo the number of frames that FlipaClip can handle... we haven't tested a limit. You can add as many frames as you're device storage would allow. :P

Thank you for the prom reply, I suspect we are in different time zones. ( In Uk at the moment)

Ok so 30 frames are in and 70 would be out. 

Can you help me a little here on how it work, say I use my video of a ladybird taking off 25 frames I can of course use this video. Now I have a butterfly in action I filmed at 100 Frames. 

Before I go ahead and draw each frame, I need to know what frames would be missing.

Is it perhaps every 2nd frame or every 5th frame ?

Ps I am very new to all of this and still feeling my ways in the dark. However I can see proper prepreations lead to far better results.

That's awesome!  Thanks for sharing the video. So we are a tiny full time team that love working on FlipaClip... We plan to make FlipaClip even better! Just takes a little bit of time. :P


Ok, so let me try to explain with simpler rounder numbers. Let's say your video is shot at 100 FPS and the FlipaClip project is set at 20 FPS. That means that the following frames from the video will only be imported:

0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100.

So frames 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9, etc... will be dropped.

I wish you all the best and for me I think the future of apps will be with people like yourself's.

The App Store very lacking in apps / programs that function to a level to be of real use.

So very surprised to find your FlipaClip feels so smooth and clean interface and feels like a drawing program. Like someone put some thought in to the ideas and carried them forwards.

The forum also a very good touch.


I do like the simplistic visual appearance yet with loads of options available, I have owned and  used it now past 2/3 hrs worth and it is mustard compared to others I have tried.


Here is what I do for living Jona, I am no animator, just creative and have interests with a crazy imagination without restrictions.

No problem! I'm glad I was able to help! Not always I can respond to everyone since we are actively coding and working on the app but time to time we try really hard to respond to users posts in the forum.

So say hi to your gang and yes do keep with your approach, I  especially enjoyed the forum and competitions set. My only wish is the prices increase and you can give up the day job to focus on your true paths and follow your dreams.
